My Opinion
I am a fan of JP Mahjong, not only for its fun potential but for its generosity. The game almost always makes me feel like I am in a luxurious Chinese casino. Here’s what else captured me.
High Volatility?
I have to say, the first time I spun the reels, I was awarded 10 free spins, a round in which I won $1,204. I thought, ‘Well, that must be the luck of the beginner.’ Then, on the THIRD spin, I got awarded 10 more spins, winning another $423. This really surprised me, as I expected long dry spells like in Dead or Alive 2.
The Progressive Multiplier
Every successive win increased the whole-grid multiplier. I must say it’s a lot easier to get a higher multiplier in JP Mahjong than in Cosmic Rush by Four Leaf Gaming. I needed just one win instead of filling out a meter. This mechanic proved very profitable during the free spins round, where I could easily get 6x, 8x, and even 10x.
The Jackpots
JP Mahjong is not like Mega Moolah, where you may wait months to play for the jackpot. I regularly received a chance to win it and often cashed in the Mini and Minor ones. That said, the big one evaded me, but this is normal.
Alternatives to JP Mahjong
Pragmatic Play’s Mahjong Wins 2 offers a similar experience and a higher maximum win of up to 100,000x. Play’n’Go’s Mahjong 88, in turn, delivers a wider grid, 8x8, but has a slightly lower RTP of 94.63%.
